I am going to do a post on handouts today and I have to admit. Hand outs are my absolute favorite. They hold in a little reminder and are super duper cute so today we are going to do a prayer sandwich handout. I think that this handout would be great for primary and young women’s. The handout basically tells the order of a prayer but in a cute whimsical way that I love. I might just make one for myself anyways. Here is what you write on the paper part of the hand out.
A Prayer Sandwich
The first piece of bread so fluffy and white, means we must say the things we are thankful for first in our prayers at night. Next in our prayer sandwich is the lettuce so green, it means we must thank the lord for the people we meet. The meat so scrumptious, means it’s time to ask, for the things we want and need thats right, Now it’s time for the other piece of bread, it means you must finish with thanking him again. Now our prayer is done the sandwich is complete pray like this and you will see that prayers can be neat.
Now to make the prayer sandwich that goes with it. (resource from American girl’s tiny treasures) (directions make one handout)
You will need.
- flat expandable sponge (for the bread)
- piece of green plastic bag. (for the lettuce)
- craft glue
- red thick rubber bands (for the meat)
- Button (plate)
Step 1. for the bread use the handy scissors to cut two pieces of the sponge in a square so that it is an inch on each side then cut the finished squares diagonally so that you have four triangles.
Step 2. Cut one piece of the green garbage bag into a square then rip in half diagonally this will be the lettuce. Then glue the two put one drop of glue in the middle of the triangle slice and lay one piece of garbage bag on a triangle slice of sponge. Then put one drop on the middle of the “Lettuce” that we just glued down and place the second piece of garbage bag on top of it.
Step 3. Cut the red rubber band into a few strips as long or short as you want usually two small strips will work. glue those on to the lettuce.
Step 4. Glue the other piece of bread on top then glue the sandwich to the button so that it looked like a plate (hole punch the piece of paper slip a ribbon through it and tie it to one of the holes of the button. there you go a prayer sandwich. (yes the sandwiches are supposed to be that small.
Hope this helped. I can’t wait to make mine for me!
